Yes! We offer a wide range of customization options to meet specific project needs, including fire-rated and security glazing, bullet-resistant glass, switchable privacy glass, one-way vision glass, italian-etched, and nearly limitless decorative options.

FDA Registered Material has a verified, traceable process within the formalized format of FDA Registration. Traceability helps ensure compliance with medical device standards: at any point, from receipt to post-installation, each individual piece of Corning® Med-X® Glass can be traced back through its shipment, processing, and manufacture.

Information on U.S. regulatory requirements for Class 1 medical devices can be found in the FDA Device section at this link.

X-ray radiation shielding glass, also known as leaded glass, is used in many applications across industries to protect people and equipment from radiation:

  • Medical: X-ray rooms, medical diagnostic screens, dental X-rays, mammography, fluoroscopy, angiography, CT scans, PET scans, and nuclear medicine

  • Industrial: Airport X-ray machines, cyclotron maintenance, non-destructive materials testing, and X-ray imaging of welds on airplanes and pipelines

  • Research: Laboratories

We do not offer a lead acrylic option; there are several reasons:

  • Lead acrylic options tend to be roughly 6x thicker than lead glass

  • Lead acrylic will darken (to a golden honey color) within a year from radiation exposure

  • Lead acrylics scratch very easily

Our thin, lightweight, scratch-resistant, and impact-safety rated alternative glass option to traditional lead acrylics is Corning® Med-X® LT Glass by McGrory Glass.
